董长青先生生于一九三八年，祖籍浙江省华亭，系明代大画家董其昌之后人，遵循先祖“读万卷书，行万里路”的教导，八岁时拜著名画家齐白石老人为师，被齐白石老人收为门下弟子，跟从齐白石老人和其三子齐良琨（号子如）专心学习齐派绘画技法，得到了齐派的真传。董老毕业于北京大学，曾任中国驻外使馆参赞，在国画，油画，工艺画，雕塑，外语等都多方面有着杰出成绩。齐白石大师和其三子逝世后，董长青先生遵照齐白石大师生前的努力方向，开拓国画艺术平民发展道路，开创“奇俊豪放，酣畅朴茂”大写意新风，重在写意取神，立意取象，独创了鱼、虾、蟹同在一个画面上的“水府三友”题材，展现了水中生物和谐共处动人形象，寓意人与社会的和谐发展，赋予静止的轮廓以韵律之美，从而展现了水中生物的生命活力，实现了水中生物形象的艺术再塑及艺术源于生活，高于生活的美学理想。

此《虾图》作于2022年，画虾3只，头皆朝左侧，虾身健劲有形，姿态各异，长臂钳重叠交叉，繁多的长须和成排的小腿，活灵活现，特别是薄壳包裹躯体的半透明感，神完气足，形神兼备。右侧题字：纪念恩师白石授业。

此图中的虾，寥寥数笔，用墨色的深浅浓淡，用笔的出神入化表现出一种动感，栩栩如生，情趣盎然。淡墨绘成的虾体，墨色浸润，晶莹剔透。虾头部中间一笔焦墨，左右二笔淡墨，再以浓墨点睛，浓淡相宜，既突出虾壳坚硬的质感，又衬托出虾体的透明。在虾的腰部，一笔一节，通过用笔的变化，使群虾的腰部呈现各异姿态，有弯腰向前，有直腰游荡。虾须和长臂钳则以富有白石味的笔法描绘，使纯墨色结构里蕴含着丰富意味和高妙技巧。淡墨写出的虾须，虚实相间，似断实连，虽乱小而有序，不见水流，却仿佛在水中似动非动，使纸上之虾如在水中游动。而一对前爪由细而粗，数节之间直至两鳌，形似钳子，有开有合，活灵活现。整幅画面可谓刚柔并济，洗练传神，显示了画家高妙的运笔功力和对生活的体察入微。
